I was born in Barcelona in 1968.  I grew up on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza where I attended Spanish, French and British schools before finishing high school in Mexico.  I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts in 1992 and moved to Berlin, Germany in 1993.

I have always been fascinated with the reflective and refractive imagery produced on the surface of and under water.  Freezing moments in time on this rippling, flowing medium, paired with natural light and wind, and whatever may lie beneath its surface, reveals delicate and sometimes complex organic patterns and fluid shapes uniquely characterised by the ever changing motion of water.

For several years now I have also been creating multiple exposure, multi-layered abstract                       compositions of subject matter photographed from various angles and distances.  I call                                  this style, Fusion photography.

I am drawn to a world that often alters structure, form, and color, and blurs the                                            lines between reality and abstraction.

“In my 30+ years as an art curator, I have not seen anything quite like Ned                                                        Irving’s photography.”
                                                  -Christian Kneisel, art curator Berlin.
